All kidding aside, with new technology we can be better prepared as a community to deal with a fire situation and buy valuable time for the fire department to respond. If you or someone you know has experienced the devastation of a fire, then you know the importance of self-protection, preparedness, and fast response. Fire extinguishers are important, but too often they are not strong enough to extinguish a developing fire and they require the user to stand and fight the fire, putting themselves at risk.

ARA Safety's research and development team are currently developing technology to allow you to effectively protect your cottage, home and your family, without putting yourself in danger.

Some local residents in the community of Tuwanek are taking the initiative to coordinate the deployment of 3 of these new high tech fire suppression devices in Tuwanek. As of March 27, 2009 there is one unit located in lower Tuwanek at The Tuwanek Hotel, 7545 Islet Place. This unit will serve the homes on the program from Islet Place do to the public beach and up to the end of Sechelt Inlet Road. The second until which is now in place of of March 27, 2009 is located mid Tuwanek Trail and will service homes and cottages on the program that are located on the trail and in the cul de sac at the end of Sechelt Inlet Road

The third unit is being co ordintated by Jon Dewsbury and will be located in upper Tuwanek and will service upper Tuwanek from Upland Road around to the bottom of Carmel Place.

The Cost of these units is approx. $1275 per unit plus the alarmed storage box. In the event of a fire these units can be deployed easily by a resident and buy critical time knocking down the fire until the fire department can arrive.
