Is your cottage serviced & ready for Spring?
Visit our links section for local service providers such as chimney cleaners and septic maintenance contractors. It might be a good idea to team up with a neighbor and have your cottage checked on a regular basis for insurance. Be sure you check your property insurance and see what requirements you have for weekly/MOnthly inspections

If you or someone you know has experienced the devastation of a
fire, then you know the importance of self-protection, preparedness,
and fast response. Some local residents in the community of Tuwanek
are currently looking at deploying the new The FIT 5 Fire
Suppression Devices in Tuwanek. There would be one located
on Tuwanek Trail which would service the Tuwanek Trail Homes one
located in Lower Tuwanek which would service homes from Sechelt
inlet/Upland Roads to the end of Sechelt Inlet Road and one that
would service upper Tuwanek from Upland Road around to the bottom
of Carmel Pl.

Lexie – “Long standing Mayor of Tuwanek “
Feb 12, 2000 – Feb 02, 2010
We are sad to announce the sudden passing of Lexie, long time Mayor of Tuwanek and friend to many. On February 02, 2010 Lexie came home late in the afternoon and lay down on her bed and went to sleep. She had been battling cancer for some time but that never stopped her from making her daily rounds to say hello, have a cookie or go for a walk.

Emergency
Response
The Tuwanek Hotel has been chosen as the radio contact point in
the event of an emergency such as an road closure, power failure,
earthquake etc.
The Hotel has been set up with CB radio equipment which allows
us to be able to communicate with the our emergency contacts in
other communities across the coast such as Sandy Hook, Sechelt,
Davis Bay and Gibsons. In the event of an emergency updates and
emergency response can be organized for Tuwanek by air or by boat
in the event of road closures and power outages.

Tuwanek Launches AED for Community
The Tuwanek Community will be one of the first on the Sunshine
Coast to have its own AED (Automated External Defibrillator) thanks
to the support of Chris and Krista Cutlan of the
Tuwanek Hotel and At
The Waters Edge Spa. This new equipment will be located
in the office of the Tuwanek Hotel and is available 24/7 for any
member of the community in the event of an emergency.
Please
note: we are stocking adult pads as well as ped pads for infants.
In the Event of a heart attack response times to Tuwanek are typically
12-20 min reducing the life expectancy of the patient from 95 %
down to 5%. This new state of the art AED is easy to use and can
dramatically improve the chances of survival until medical emergency
response in the event of sudden cardiac arrest.
In the event of an Emergency and Suspected Heart Attack:
- Call 911
- Have someone stay with the patient or call a neighbor
- Go to The Tuwanek Hotel day or night – Ring Office –
someone is always available 24/7
- AED is located in Main office area along with a medical first
aid kit
- Our staff are trained in the use of the AED as well as our Managers
but please take the time to review the demo as it is designed
for public use and everyone should know how it works.
Learn More information about AED:
For more information call Chris or Krista at 604.885.3442
